New ultrasound imaging technology by the group of Prof. Göksel improves breast cancer detection
The new technology provides a new contrast modality, which can have a large impact and clinical value in several applications from assessing breast cancer to muscle loss in the elderly. Recent developments in the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group (CAiM) led by Prof. Orçun Göksel allow such imaging to be performed without the need of any additional hardware, purely as a software solution with their proposed signal and image processing techniques.
Thanks to these advances, the new modality can function at the push of a button, and be as simple as switching to Doppler or other ultrasound modalities. It could be made available at every doctor's office, for potential new diagnosis and intervention applications.
