CAiM is among the winning consortium for this year’s Hochschulmedizin Zürich Flagship Project "SURGENT: Surgeon Enhancing Technologies"
Hochschulmedizin Zürich, unveiled its new flagship project for 2018. Surgent (Surgeon Enhancing Technologies) aims to set new standards in precision surgery. CAiM is part of the HMZ SURGENT team and will contribute on the project. The project will be led by Mazda Farshad, a professor and director of Balgrist University Hospital, and Mirko Meboldt, professor of product development at ETH Zurich.
New ultrasound imaging technology by the group of Prof. Göksel improves breast cancer detection
The new technology provides a new contrast modality, which can have a large impact and clinical value in several applications from assessing breast cancer to muscle loss in the elderly. Recent developments in the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group (CAiM) led by Prof. Orçun Göksel allow such imaging to be performed without the need of any additional hardware, purely as a software solution with their proposed signal and image processing techniques.
